Come to summer camp at Vintage Wings & Wheels Museum during the month of June to meet new friends and make great memories. Each day camp focuses on teaching history through hands-on activities, fun games, and interesting crafts. Children ages first through fifth grade are invited! Details about dates and summer camps offered are listed below.
2012 Camps
June 19 and 21: Space Camp
June 26 and 28: MSI! Museum Scene Investigators
Camp #1: “Out of this World: An exploration of space, science, and model rockets”
Tuesday, June 19th and Thursday, June 21st 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
(Students are STRONGLY encouraged to attend both camps for
the week in order to get the best experience)
This camp will focus on space exploration, teaching the students about our solar system, galaxy, the moon, and the stars. Additionally, students will learn about astronauts, life in outer space, and they will have a go at building their own rockets as part of a launch team. The activities will range from an orbit game to constellation creation, to black hole tag and crater art. The camp will culminate on the second day with an actual model rocket launch and a sampling of astronaut food! This camp is ideal for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, but younger students are welcome too. Limit 20-25 students
Camp #2: “M.S.I.: Museum Scene Investigators”
Tuesday, June 26th and Thursday, June 28th 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

This camp will focus on teaching kids all about our museum, its buildings and collections through crime scene analysis activities. The students will learn all about our museum in a fun and interactive way utilizing fingerprints, solving puzzles, and discovering clues to help solve a mystery at the museum. Activities will range from mug shots and fingerprinting, to code cracking and crime scene investigation. The camp will culminate in a “crime” and the students will have to solve a series of clues to help catch the crook! This camp is ideal for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, but younger students are welcome too. Limit 20-25 students
Each camp costs $10 per day to attend ($16 for one week) and will last from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. here at the Museum. Please make sure to bring a sack lunch but water will be provided. Contact the museum at (815) 547-3115 if you are interested and we look forward to seeing you this summer!
